Dark!percy and the Trials of Apollo theory

So I was reading some of the stories by @ofswordsandpens and @lililibird about dark!Percy and it got me thinking…In the Trials of Apollo, Percy’s first word is “why?” He is so done with the gods’ crap. He has saved the world twice in, roughly, the span a year. He has been through hell. Based on the AHS hoodie he’s wearing, he was forced to move to a new school because of his disappearance. He just got back to his mom and now it looks like he is gonna be ripped away from her again. He knows he is gonna have to help so I imagine that he would want a quick solution. I’ve had this scene in head that shows Percy sitting down with a Titan or some other immortal entity to ask how to end this thing with Apollo as quick as possible. However, the entity doesn’t exactly want to help because they don’t really like Apollo. He has been a jerk in the past and has a lot of enemies who would rather see him dead. The entity thinks they have the upper hand and decides to mess with Percy by bringing up Tartarus and Akhlys. I see the teasing, malicious smile on the entity’s face as they try to unsettle Percy. But Percy has had it. He’s done. His face is blank and his eyes are dark as he brings out a knife and cuts into his palm. The entity would immediately stop their taunting to watch and see what the son of Poseidon would do. The blood would run down his palm before dripping onto the table where it froze into spikes and dark shapes. The entity is now the one unsettled and they move their eyes from the blood on the table to Percy’s face. He looks almost disinterested as his eyes flick up to meet the pale face of the entity and says in a calm, quiet voice, “don’t test me.”

Dark!percy and Frank Headcanon

as requested here is some dark!percy headcanon

feels inbound…

-after several years of living away from the camps the 7 now live normal live with most of them agree not to use their powers (they couldn’t convince Leo)

-Percy can’t sleep at night, he cant help but feel like he could stop people’s suffering and he shouldn’t let personal gain get in the way of that.

-after a tear filled talk with Annabeth, Percy decides he should join the armed forces to protect people

-on the first day of training he see’s a familiar face “frank!” he calls out “what are you doing here”

-turns out he feels the same way and they make a pact that they’re in this together

-4 years late they are brothers of arms doing 2 terms in afganistan protecting bomb disposal teams

-but one day they get hit, hard. an ambush hails on them from all side

- frank sees the bomb disposal team in trouble, they are trapped inside a building being shaken by gunfire

-he looks over at Percy “I’m gonna help them, cover me” and runs

-Percy yells “Frank no wait!!” but he doesn’t stop running “gods damn it Frank!!!” he began firing his weapon in the direction of the shooting, attempting to help draw fore from Frank

-he turns back toward the building. franks nearly out, he’s in the doorway with the team. they’re gonna make it.

-then the bomb goes off

-Percy is knocked down just in time to see his friends lifeless body fly through the air.

-he crawls over to Frank, tears of disbelief in his eyes.

-he checks for a pulse, a breath, a sound, anything to tell him that franks OK

-but there’s nothing there. Frank was dead.

-Percy didn’t move, he didn’t breathe. he could here people shouting to run and that they were under fire and to get to cover. he didn’t care

-all Percy could feel was the white noise in his ears, and he darkness that fell asleep once he left Taurus waking slowly up. He didn’t stop it.

-Percy stood up as the very ground shook around him. the earth rumbled as he walked.

-buildings fell as he approached his attackers

-they tried to shoot at him but the ground shook them so much they couldn’t raise their weapon

-a trident of water and ice appeared in one of Pecry’s hands as he speared a soldier through the chest and then turned too shot another

- he continued the massacre until there was only left. he was talking to Percy, begging? Percy couldn’t hear over the blood in his ears. he raised his sidearm and uttered to the man “Tell Frank Zhang I’m sorry” before pulling the trigger and looking at the body of his victim.

@atrociouscreations asked for something like, if Percy accepted being a God at the end of the PJO series. And Idk why, but this was the first thing that popped into my head and I had to draw yet. I read awhile ago some headcannons for a dark Percy god, and oh was it so good, that I think some of that was what inspired this…

No but do you know how substantial the snapping moment Percy had in Tartarus was when he tortured the Goddess of Misery? How significant his moment of realization was?

The white-green poison kept pooling, little streams trickling from the plants as the venomous lake around him got wider and wider. Lake, he thought. Streams. Water. Probably it was just his brain getting fried from poison fumes, but he croaked out a laugh. Poison was liquid. If it moved like water, it must be partially water. He remembered some science lecture about the human body being mostly water. He remembered extracting water from Jason’s lungs back in Rome… If he could control that, then why not other liquids?

Up until that point, Percy hadn’t really controlled things that were partially water. Salt water and pure water sure, but never liquids that were only part water. The only other time in my recent memory where he had done something vaguely similar was when he willed Piper’s Cornucopia to spew Diet Coke, and even then he wasn’t really controlling the Diet Coke itself. Or the time where he controlled sewage water, but he was still controlling the water in it, not the debris polluting it.

The reason why this moment is so important is because it was a monumental shift in his powers. The ability to manipulate and control all liquids that are only partial water is a power with scary potential. As Percy said himself, the human body is mostly water. Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. The brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31%.

Like do you know the endless possibilities to this?? He could literally clench his fingers and you’d be splattered like a bug on the windshield.

But, you’re asking, if he had this insane power why didn’t we see it in Blood of Olympus?

The one main reason is this: 

Annabeth sounded terrified. It took Percy a moment to realize she was terrified of him.

“Percy, please don’t ever…” Her voice broke in a sob. “Some things aren’t meant to be controlled. Please.” 

His whole body tingled with power, but the anger was subsiding. The broken glass inside him was beginning to smooth at the edges.

“Yeah,” he said. “Yeah, okay.”

Percy, I think, after leaving Tartarus and was able to think with a clearer mind would have vowed to never use a power like this if it had scared Annabeth to an such an extreme. But the real question is if is he would want to use it.

Do I believe that is the end of that display? Absolutely not. I think he would have trouble controlling a power like that, the way his emotions are so finally tuned with his powers in all. And with him trying to keep it a secret, it’s bound to get spilled. 

In fact I think with proper training he could use his newfound powers to his extreme benefit.

All I’m saying is that Percy is scary powerful and with no narration from him in boo, I think there is a lot more significance to that scene in Tartarus.

-he becomes easily angered and snaps at people, only to regret it soon after
-he gets in many impulsive fistfights and his hands shake for hours afterwards
-even annabeth holding them wont make them stop and it scares both of them
-he has never hurt annabeth but his worst nightmares are the ones where he does
-he wakes up from them sweating and yelling and she tries to comfort him but he wont even let her get close to him for his own fear of what he could do to her

• It’s a few months into college in New Rome
• Percy has been snapping at Annabeth sometimes if she tries to talk to him when he’s not in the mood
• She assures him that it’s okay, that it’s just the stress of classes and Tartarus getting to him
• He doesn’t really forgive himself though
• Like he knows that Annabeth’s probably right and it shouldn’t bother him so much
• But he has this feeling that something else is off about it and always hates himself for it whenever he does it
• He can’t figure out what it is
• He just knows that it isn’t only that he hates being mean to Annabeth
• So it’s Thanksgiving break and Percy decides to go visit Sally
• They’ve been in touch as much as they can but they haven’t seen each other since before school started
• So he takes Annabeth with him to Sally’s place for Thanksgiving
• (Sally’s promised blue cake for dessert)
• So they get there the day before Thanksgiving and everything’s fine
• They’re not planning on having a big thing, just Percy, Annabeth, Paul and Sally
• So for Thanksgiving dinner Percy sits next to Sally
• And they’re going around the table saying what they’re thankful for
• And Sally says that she’s thankful that Percy and Annabeth are there with her
• And Annabeth smiles and thinks it’s really sweet 
• But Percy
• Percy can’t help thinking that she said that totally aware that they could be dead
• Or that they could still be in Tartarus and the world could have ended
• And Sally would have been dead and Percy and Annabeth would still be suffering a fate worse than death
• All this does is set off a flashback
• He tenses and his breath starts coming in shallow and his eyes cloud over with fear
• Sally notices this and reaches out to put her hand on his shoulder to comfort him
• Percy immediately makes a move to grab her wrist as he screams, “Don’t. Touch. Me.”
• Sally quickly pulls her hand back and flinches, seeming to curl in on herself
• Percy’s eyes widen
• The feeling he has after snapping at Annabeth becomes clear to him
• He knows what it is now
• He apologizes to Sally over and over and then pushes his chair back from the table and walks away, trembling
• Annabeth tells Sally that she’s got it covered and follows him out to his room
• “That was like him.”
• “Like who?”
• But Annabeth knows who he’s talking about
• Percy’s told her about Gabe
• How he would bellow at Sally and Percy, holding tightly onto their wrists so they couldn’t back away
• “Gabe.”
• And he starts to cry as he realizes that he’s becoming everything he’s afraid of 
• Suddenly everything he thought he was
• The person he wanted to be
• The person he didn’t want to be
• Crumbles around him
• As soon as he and Annabeth get back to New Rome, he starts to block everyone out
• Making sure he never
• Ever
• Hurts anyone like Gabe hurt him and Sally all those years
• Because now he knows that he’s capable of it
• Needless to say, Percy couldn’t bring himself to face Sally to have the blue cake she promised.

If Percy had fallen into Tartarus on his own headcannon

Okay so basically I saw this thing on Instagram and it was a screenshot of a tumblr post about how Percy would have turned out if he fell to Tartarus on his own.  here’s my little addition to it. The initial post will be at the end (i suggest reading it first)

imagine everyone at CHB and CJ fearing Percy, even though they still respect him a little something has changed drastically and the campers don’t know what to do.  After a few months the older kids from CHB starting to think he’ll be a repeat of Luke but worse. All the older kids quietly discussing things from the past and how they’re worried for everyone’s safety when a younger kid/ someone from Camp Jupiter hears them and starts to ask questions. They all look at the table in shame and fear as they vaguely explain to them what happened which only instills more fear. None of them know but one of the seven overhears them and loses it (I feel like it would be Nico or Annabeth) on them because “Percy isn’t like Luke” and “he’s been through so much more than anyone will ever be able to imagine.” 

Unfortunately that doesn’t keep people from whispering when no who supports Percy is around to hear. They still talk and there’s nothing anyone can do because whenever the seven try to figure out who started the rumors the other campers cover for each other. 

Chiron tries his hardest to get through to Percy and to help him but every attempt moves Percy farther away. Percy can’t even think about his time in Tartarus without having to sit down away from people to calm down. So Chiron just settles for the tiniest snippets that he gets sometimes (most of the time its just a change in body language or Percy mumbling something when he’s not paying attention) and stays behind Percy like a wall to protect him from the cruelty of the campers and any of the gods that question him.

• He’s talking with Frank about effective ways to develop the bond between the camps
•And his hands start trembling
• His already messy handwriting turns into scribbles on the page, and his notes are ruined
• And Percy doesn’t know why but he’s so angry that he can’t even do this right anymore
• It gets to a point where he doesn’t even realise that the room is shaking around him as well
• Frank is so worried, like he’s used to the calmer version of Percy, the sassy Percy we all know and love, he’s not Annabeth, he’s not used to this
• So he finds Annabeth because she is
• Annabeth shows up and holds Percy close to her whispering that he needs to try and calm down
• Percy tells her to leave
• “I’m not going anywhere seaweed brain, I promise.”

reminder that it’s canon that percy hates the gods and would turn on them in a second. percy doesn’t fight on the side of the gods, he fights on the side of humanity. he’d be happy to overthrow the gods, as long as that didn’t threaten humanity.
